Again, my self professed love of Pop Stars
is rearing it’s head again, but this is an interesting one because Lana Del Rey
is meant to represent the antithesis of everything popular in today’s music.
She’s not blonde, she doesn’t sing about getting wasted at a club; there’s no
pumping electro beat or polished choreography… Lana’s a real storyteller, she’s
stands in the middle of a stage, shake’s her hips a little and doesn’t just
sing a song about the man she feel in love with, she drapes her probably very
ordinary relationship in a wash of beautiful Americana influenced metaphors.
She has a way of twisting the simplest of things and making them sound like she
was the star of some beautifully tragic romance drama. She certainly makes
music for the eyes, and that’s evident by her (truly jaw droopingly phenomenal)
videos. You better have 10 minutes to spare, because this thing below is too
good not to watch.
