The dorky homosexual from the back alley's of New York became THEE most celebrated artist of the 1960's... gives me a little hope if I'm honest. Warhol didn't start out in fine art, he was originally a commercial artist and quickly became one of the most sought after in his field. This would later become the foundation for his later art work. He literally injected pop culture into art, and as his work grew he started creating a sort of commentary on social media and consumerism. Themes present throughout much of my work this year. Warhol brought much attention to the process of screen printing, I only discovered the technique for myself this year whilst studying foundation. A pioneer of a true artistic revolution, as well as one of the last.
